Institute of Management and Organisation - IMO
IMO is an institute that studies organizations and the decisions of its primary actors within not only economic contexts, but also social.
The research and teaching activities of IMO members cover a wide variety of topics. The common element between them is a perspective placing at its core the social context in which organizational behavior takes shape. From the more macro perspective, organizations can together be understood as social actors that respond to logics beyond the economic. From the more micro perspective, organizations can be understood as the result of internal social processes that influence the decisions of their members who at times lead those organizations away from a logic of profit maximization.
Partnerships
Innovation and corporate relations’ efforts and initiatives seek to facilitate access and transfer of IMO’s fundamental research findings to industry, businesses, and the society at large.
Some of these research efforts involve work with family business, large firms, or international organizations. Some of the methodological tools include empirical research, econometrics, simulation, and optimization.
Competence areas of IMO’s faculty range from lean six sigma and process management to mergers and acquisitions, from managing stakeholder relationships to decision-making under uncertainty, and from business models and industry analyses to human resource management.
